Nowdays, anything is better than the Radio //////

Hey folks,

Sorry about the lack of posting recently. I've been recovering from the stress of uni exams on the South Coast for the last week. Absolutely beautiful, except my ipod broke... again.

In the few days since I've been back I've been sorting through the various unsigned artists on Triple J's Unearthed website [http://www.triplejunearthed.com/]. The site is fantastic for finding little music gems.

One of the standout artists I found was a brother/sister duo, named (very originally in my opinion) BrotherSister. The duo are from Adelaide, and are heavily influenced by classical and electronic music.

When listening to their music for the first time I was struck with the possibility that they could be the love child of The Notwist and Angus & Julia Stone... which isn't too bad all things considered.

Anywhoo, their debut self titled album was released in late 2005 in the US, and 2006 in Australia and I see a lot of possibility in this act.

Editors Tour - August ////////

So it's just been confirmed that UK outfit the Editors are coming Down Under in August. The new dates are on their myspace (www.myspace.com/editorsmusic) and while there hasn't been an official announcement that they will be at Splendour, it seems more than likely.

Dates:

1 Aug. Metro, Sydney
2 Aug. Tivoli, Brisbane
3 Aug. The Hi Fi, Melbourne
7 Aug. The Studio, Auckland.

Tickets go onsale this week, on the 27th.... where I'm going to get money for this is anyone's guess.

We're Marching On...+ 'Our Love to Admire' Leaked ///////

So I was doing some mindless myspace surfing the other day instead of studying for my exams and came across this Canadian act called 'We're Marching On....'

I found them a little more interesting then a lot of the mindless crap you can find on myspace, so check them out.

In other news, the new Interpol cd 'Our Love to Admire' has leaked. I've listened to about half of it and it's no disappointment. I'm not going to upload it because it'll just be taken down but the album is easy enough to find for yourselves.

Architecture in Helsinki - Places Like This ////////

'Places like This' is the third album from this wonderful Melbourne band. It's eclectic, crazy and sometimes just too insane to try and understand, but if you go with it, AIH's music is a LOT of fun.
[Thanks Ro for the proper info.]

Tegan + Sara ///////

Yeah ok, I know by this time you've all probably downloaded this leak if you're into this duo but tough luck, I'm posting about it anyway....

I haven't been able to listen to all of Tegan & Sara's latest album, The Con, but I've been impressed by the stuff I've heard so far. It's a little different from 'So Jealous' but still has that very distinctive T&S sound.

So far, so good... you should check them out.

Mash-Up Mondays [This time on a Tuesday!] ///////

A Plus D:

Just a quick post today. Found what I think is a pretty nifty mash-up of The Cure's 'Close to You' and Robyn's 'Konichiwa Bitches' by A Plus D. I've always loved The Cure so this one is pretty high up on the charts for me.

Check out these crazily amazing mash-up artists, Djs Adrian & the Mysterious D (A Plus D) at their site:

Vampire Weekend ///////

Formed in early 2006, Vampire Weekend is an indie band from NY manufacturing the catchiest pop beats out there at the moment. A quartet comprising of four guys in their early 20s, I have no doubt their fan base is going to sky-rocket sometime very soon.

Essentially one of the best bands of 2007.
